Carnival Dream Cruise, Livorno to Viareggio Italy, October 14, 2009 : While the ship was in port in Livorno, we took the train to Viareggio, which is a beautiful seaside town just north of Livorno. The city is known for its Art Nouveau architecture and its tranquil setting. Viareggio's architecture reminded me of what you would find in South Beach but unlike South Beach which feels superficial and pretentious, Viareggio is warm, real and inviting.

Carnival Dream Cruise, Venice, Italy October 8, 2009 DAY TWO : Our second day in Venice started out foggy again, but ti turned into a clear, beautiful sunny day. We stayed in port until just before sunset. These are pictures taken through our walk throughout Venice, mainly in the residential areas. It was very tranquil and uncrowded.

Carnival Dream Cruise, Venice, Italy October 7, 2009 DAY ONE : We arrived in Venice on our first day at 1:00 in the afternoon. It was very foggy but that is typical for October. These pictures were taken from the ship coming in (obviously), a public transportation Vaporetto boat along the Grand Canal and then a walk through the residential area of Venice back to the Dream.

Civitavecchia, Italy, Carnival Dream Cruise, October 2009 : We stayed in Civitavecchia at the Hotel San Giorgio for one night before our cruise and then for four glorious nights after the cruise. We enjoyed our stay in Civitavecchia so much we are returning there and to the hotel for a longer visit in June of 2010. Civitavecchia is a hidden gem and should be explored.

Key West: May 2, 2009 : We were diverted to Key West rather than returning to Mexico due to the swine flu. I love Key West so I was pleased with the change! The Valor was in port with the Holiday. Carnival's oldest and smallest ship. It will be decommissionoed in November of 2009 so I am glad I was able to see the ship.
